Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm never quite sure, with all the human suffering in the world, if it's appropriate. If it is then...
Our two dogs ran off yesterday while I was trying to get everyone out to the car. Katie, our golden retriever, came home a couple hours later, but Radar (a chocolate lab) did not. It's been over 24 hours now. He has collar on with our address/phone and an implanted ID chip. I'm thinking if he had been hit that we would have been called by Animal Control. So, I suspect that someone has found him and is planning on keeping him. We are going to put up some flyers today and ask around the neighborhood. I'm trying to stay optimistic, but I have three sobbing little girls downstairs and don't really know what to tell them. Prayers would be appreciated!

Praying for Radar's return, and the restored happiness of your three little girls. God loves all his creatures and cares for each one. Animals do not have souls, so praying for them after death would be inappropriate, but to pray for their welfare here on earth, and for their heart-broken owners, is a good thing.

Jane.

I'm hoping Radar will live up to his name and come home soon. Your girls have gone through so much, I'm praying that they won't have this to bear!

My parish is St. Francis of Assisi. On St. Francis' feast day, our priest always provides a blessing for pets for those who choose to bring them. Also, my husband, a vet, will pray to St. Francis when he has to place a catheter in a vein.

I will also pray to St. Anthony for Radar. Our dog escaped quite a few times when someone left the gate open. We made many desperate calls upon St. Anthony.

Yeah. I even know some atheists who pray for pets. Your Radar is in our prayers.

He's home!!!! It had been over 3 days, and I had just about given up hope...45 minutes ago some kids called and said they had him down in the playground by our house (I handed out flyers to all the kids as they were getting on the bus on Friday-stressing REWARD IF FOUND!!) Dh went down to see if it was Radar-it was!! He looks great-no signs of injury. It doesn't even look like he's been outside for three days. He still had his collar on, but his tags were taken off the collar. I don't know what to make of that! But, thanks be to God and to the intercession of St. Anthony and all your prayers. The girls will be so excited when they wake up!!
