Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have had several people search for a Padre Pio coloring page so I decided to post these early since they were already done. We LOVE Padre Pio here. I would appreciate hearing any ideas for celebrating his feast day next week.

Me too - he is one of our favorite saints, We have been saying the Novena. Thanks for the coloring Charlotte. A funny story for you - my identical twin boys are going to both dress in brwn robes and beards for All Saints - and be Padre Pio bilocating!!

I will have to remember that one when my boys are old enough. I doubt we will be doing much of anything for All Saints' Day this year, or in coming years--not many children in our parish, and we live waaaayyy out in the country..

Marilyn, I had heard of someone else doing that, and had tucked it away as an idea for my boys, too! You will have to post pictures .

One aspect of Padre Pio to discuss is the stigmata he suffered. The first well-documented case and the first to be accepted by Church authorities as authentic, was that of Saint Francis of Assisi in 1224. He received it on or near the feast of the Exhaltation of the Cross. The Franciscans remember and celebrate as a feast day the Stigmatization of Francis on Sept. 17. With Padre Pio's feast this week we find that there are two well known stigmatics remembered close to the Exhaltation feast day. It's a good connection to discuss this week.

My 18 month apart boys did the bilocating thing last year. This post is pic heavy, but if you scroll down you'll see them! We love Padre Pio here too!

Yesterday we attended a picnic for the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. We always send them home with lots of leftovers. Fr. Juniper left with canolli filling and shells and said it was the perfect way for them to celebrate St. Pio's feast day!. I think a little Italian pastry will be on the menu tomorrow!
Why do most of my St. Day celbrations have to be so fattening!

I just posted this recipe over at Catholic Cuisine. I think it will be a perfect way to celebrate our favorite Capuchin's special day. We serve it with strawberries but anything will do, even just a spoon!

Cappuccino Mousse

1 C. milk
3/4 C. cold strong coffee (I use decaf.)
1 pkg. vanilla pudding mix
2 Tbl. sugar
2 C. heavy whipping cream
1/4 c. sugar

In a large bowl, beat milk, coffee, pudding mix (dry) and 2 Tbl. sugar with a wire whisk for 2 minutes or until slightly thickened. In a chilled large bowl, beat whipping cream and 1/4 C. sugar with electric mixer on high speed until stiff. Gently stir whipped cream into coffee mixture. Refrigerate about 15 minutes or until set.

Such wonderful ideas and sharing of talents!

I was thinking of something VERY simple for dh and I, a little sip of Frangelico for this feast.

I just found out that my kids are praying for twins too, but they want one boy and one girl because no one wants to be outnumbered. Fair and square is the way they like the gender distribution around here!

My kids are praying for a second set of twins - dd so wants some more girls.

Once you have had identical twins you are much more likely to have multiples again. For each successive pregnancy I have a very early sonogram to determine whether it is multiples - I am alway shaking and scared (because my twin pregancy was very tough)- I get dh to come with me - but then when we see only one little bean there is always a keen sense of disappointment. Twins are so incredibly miraculous (like all babies) - but there is this additional fascination at seeing two identical human beings.

You might like to see the following about my twins - the sono with 2 little beans still freaks me out!!
