Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Any thoughts on this book? Some folks I know are doing a book study on it.

What Paul Meant?

I haven't seen the book, Mary Chris, but it would give me pause. Is this reading for religous enrichment? Gary Wills isn't formed in Catholic teaching nor in Biblical scholarship, so his take would be a more secular view. Also, he is known for being liberal, if that matters to you.

I would use a little caution in reading secular books about our Faith...read with discretion and criticism. I'm not saying don't ever read them, just with a discerning eye.

What's on my nightstand to read, and dh read and loved it is Paul of Tarsus by Joseph Holzner. It's an older book, reprinted (on backorder now). Dh says it takes you through his travels and you can really get to know him. It's not the exact angle as Wills book, but a good one for the Year of St. Paul.

Jenn,

It gave me pause also. Which is why I posted, I was wondering if I was missing something. Thanks for answering and the book suggestion.
