Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We usually make a crockpot of meatballs, pizza rolls, and have desserts and chips and dip away while we watch tv and wait for the ball to drop. The kids all enjoy it and sometimes make it midnight. They all hope to this year. We'll see. It is a nice time together and great to start off the New year at home.

Each New Year's my dh makes the most yummy Buffalo wings (he is from Buffalo as well...he uses his "special recipe"). This year he is tweaking it, so we'll see    But we also do the usual potato skins and mozzarella sticks...think lots of fattening stuff.

My parents and brother and his wife and their dd will be coming over as well.

I love the saints in the bowl idea (have to wait till tomorrow, parents and brother/sil are protestant!) and why hasn't it ever occurred to us to celebrate before it actually is midnight...like some of you have mentioned. Boy that would be nicer than the whole waiting up thing. We have sort of given in and dc stay up as long as they can, as they drop, dh carries them up to bed, everyone bets at the beginning of the night how many we'll have left awake at 12!

Happy New Year everyone!
