Many of the books are in our library system - but each year I buy at least one Christmas book for each child. This year, in anticipation of my Christmas Mosaic (hooray - I will be getting an autographed copy), and after discussion with Cay, I have just ordered the following;
- Gift of the Magi
- An Orange for Frankie
- Silent Night
- Mortimer's Christmas Manger
- The First Christmas Stocking
Which books are your ordering?

Marilyn, I've just hosted a book look that had many of the Christmas Mosaic picture books and I've read all of them except Gift of the Magi.
An Orange for Frankie is a beautiful, beautiful tear-jerker, or maybe it is because I'm heavily pregnant and very sensitive or that the ending caught me off guard, but I highly recommend it.
The First Christmas Stocking is just a beautiful story to capture all that is beautiful about Christmas with wonderful, soft illustrations to match - we bought this one.
Mortimer's Christmas Manager, we LOVE this book, particularly the children, I bought the book for my 5 year old but still displayed it at the book look for women to order and my darling boy spied it on one of the tables and he picked it up, held it up for all to see and said, "This book is already sold!!!"
So these three books in particular, we love.

This year....
The First Christmas Stocking. My absolute favorite!
Mortimer's Christmas Manger. Favorite of DDs.
And, we're giving The First Christmas Stocking as gifts to our God-daughters.

Wow, I just noticed your sidebar of the Mosaic books-do you actually own all those?

No. I own a lot though.
The ones in my sidebar were read throughout this past year as I put "Christmas Mosaic" together and are found in "Christmas Mosaic's" booklist, but not all are featured. Many I found at my library.
I put them on my sidebar so people so visitors can easily see which ones are recommended.

I am bumping this up - as I am planning on buying each of my children an Advent/Christmas new book for Saint Nicholas (our annual tradition) - I am trying to figure out which ones to buy this year - our collection is growing!
(I got my Christmas Mosaic out yesterday and really enjoyed going through it with my cup of tea and pumpkin bread!!)

I just got my Christmas Mosaic in the mail too! I'm excited! Other than the books in bold, anyone recommend any of the other for preschool?

Mine too.
I think Marilyn just gave us all permission to pull out our Christmas plans.
Honestly, I've been restraining myself against taking the Christmas books out of their plastic bedspread casings.
I did pull Ch M off the shelf the other day because I needed to look for a reference. I caught myself reading through parts of it and <Sigh!>...just thinking how lovely it is...like holding my own child. I even gave it a loving pat and fond gaze before sliding it back on the shelf.
I know I wrote it , but so did a lot of other wonderful, thoughtful, generous friends. And, of course, my warm and wonderful publisher and friend.
It's really great, isn't it?

Cay, I don't mean to hijack, but I'm wondering (and petitioning ) : any chance for an Easter/Lent Mosaic book guide sometime in the future??
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas, but since converting to the Catholic Faith and learning about how Easter is our greatest celebration, I struggle with how to do up Easter really big for the kids....
Every year I have vowed not to do a Christmas Card but an Easter card for example.....
