Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wasn't exactly sure if I should tag this onto an old thread but there were so many pertinent ones on fairy tales, as well as myths, that I decided to just post it as a new topic.

As I go through another season of reading fairy tales and myths to my dc, I again am trying to understand the purpose of it all. In December of 2006, I read a very interesting article on fairy tales in Crisis Magazine but was never able to access it online. Now that Crisis has gone exclusively online, they were kind enough to send me the link here. Enjoy!

Wow, Karen Anderson goes pretty deep. However she's convinced me, its time I started re-reading fairy tales to my younger children.

What a great article! And her book looks beautiful! Almost like a Christmas issue of Victoria.

Brenda,

Thanks for linking that article.    I had a chance to read it before Thanksgiving and then I ordered A Fairy Tale Christmas. The book was a hit around here.

The girls and I decided to host an Alice in Wonderland Christmas Tea for the aunts and cousins. The tea was based on the ideas in the book. We had so much fun reading and planning for the tea that we hope to make it an annual tradition.
