Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wonder if anyone has seen/read these books before and what you all think of them:

A Night the Stars Danced for Joy: A Story for Christmas

This one just made me cry the entire time I read it - and the pictures are just so beautiful! Simple, beautiful colors. It centers on a shepherd family, a mom, dad and son and their wishes when they saw what they thought was a shooting star. I'm a bit put off by the use of the word, "Hooray!" by the boy, so I might change that while reading it, but might need some suggestions.

Because I love you

This one is about a man named "Shaddai" (which I admit I was very slow and didn't get it until almost the end - I knew who he represented, but massacred the pronunciation until the light came on!) who loves the children in the village so much he builds a wall for them to keep them from the dangers in the forest.

I see this author (Max Lucado) has other books with titles along similar concepts (lines from Scripture) - anyone read the others?

I have not read any of Max Lucado's books but thanks for turning me on to them!!! I can't wait to see if our Library carries any of them. I have already added many to my wish list. Is it too forward of me to just suddenly e-mail my wish list to my MIL! She's the type to buy anything she knows the children will love!
Thanks for the New books!

Wow. I had never heard this author before, but I found 2 of his books at our library, and the descriptions of the others online - they all seem so beautiful! I love these kind of discoveries!

Love Max Lucado here

Jacob's Gift is a favourite, it is about a boy who is an apprentice carpenter. His teacher tells him he has a gift and must use it for God; a competition is announced for the students, the best wordworking project will be chosen by the teacher's visiting uncle.

Jacob works very hard on a new invention a feeding trough for the animals. During the night (Jacob lives in an inn ) he hears a baby cry, going to investigate he finds a new born in the stables with no crib to lay in. He gives the baby his feeding manager to lay in

The next morning he has no project to show when the Rabbi and his uncle come. The uncle is no other than Joseph! who tells of Jacob's generosity. A beautiful story, very thought provoking.

We love Max Lucado, and love You are Special, Because I Love You, and The Crippled Lamb...ooohhh and Just In Case You Ever Wonder is a favorite board book around here. The books are truly beautiful and full of gentle, loving lessons about faith.

Lucado is not Catholic but I included some of his books in Catholic Mosaic because they are indeed priceless.

The Crippled Lamb is the last book featured. My mom read it with the girls one day and recommended it to me. My flip-flops everytime I read this book.

I saw a Max Lucado book at the bookstore the other day and didn't get it because I didn't know if he was catholic and didn't have time to check it thoroughly for theological soundness. But it was a lovely book about creation told from the viewpoint of the Angel Michael. I can't remember the name of it. Anyone know it and can give me a thumbs up or down on the theology? I was REALLY tempted to get it as what I read of it was just beautiful.

ETA: Found it here:In The Beginning
