Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Year With God users,
can you tell me if YWG is "girly"?
the Artwork and templates? craft projects?

My sense is generally that CHC materials are beautiful, but very feminine. I am considering getting YWG, but need to know bc. my little ds (7) is ultra boyish . He turns up his nose at anything cutesy.

Thanks for your help.

Hmm...interesing question, dd and I love doing work out of it but well we are GIRLS

Ds is still little so he just loves doing whatever big sister is doing...

two friends with all boys looked at my copy but decided to pass - they both it was "too crafty" for their families.

guess it depends on your boy and your definition of "crafty". YWG is very paper and flower kind of stuff. My brother was always very into that kind of crafty stuff.

So maybe it would not be a good fit for you.
Maybe doing more physical crafts instead..building little wooden shrines for your garden or you can buy little wall pegs he can sand and paint and hammer up to hang your rosaries. Building up a little rock grotto in the garden.

just some thoughts. Maggie

I don't think it's girly, but I agree with Maggie's assessment, a lot of paper crafts. It's not my favorite book for ideas for the Liturgical Year. If you want boy appealing crafts, I'd head to Dawn's blog for liturgical year crafts. They are totally splendid.

Just a PS...a fun book that's filled with Liturgical year stuff, including craft ideas with materials like popsicle sticks, shoe boxes, orange juice can lids, etc. is A Treasure Chest of Traditionsfor Catholic Families by Monica McConkey. It's not girly at all.

Cathletics were originally from this book, and you can find some examples of her book from Domestic Church and Catholic Culture if you search for the title of the book or her name.
