Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Seeing Symmetry
by Loreen Leedy

As I continue my math picture book adventure this year,
I have to recommend this one. I first saw it mentioned here (though I can't find the exact post), but my library did not have it at the time.

However, I recently checked again, and it was a new purchase. Hooray!

This is another book with awesome pictures- it really gives you a visual symmetry feast. The author also covers radial symmetry, which is not something that is mentioned much in math programs (that I have seen, anyway,)

So it gets two thumbs up here:

ETA: This one will appeal to a wide range of ages. There are brainteaser questions on each page that require some good thought.

(as opposed to the book we read last week, which was... oh, my... such a snoozer.... and I stopped half way through it because it was so painful to read. No one minded )

I mentioned it here in the Math forum. I LOVE this book. Hope others will jump in that thread with recommendations for studying symmetry.

Melinda.
