I began a blog last night but don't want it open to anybody just yet. Is there anyway that I can have it open to certain people without them have to sign in?

I don't know how to do that on Blogger. When I used that service, it wasn't an option. Sorry I am no help.

Don't know if this will help or not. (I'm a novice and may not explain this properly.) I started a blog in December primarily for record keeping and for friends and family. I have the settings (under "settings", do you want your blog listed?) so that the address is not listed in the blogger index. I think that somewhere on the "dashboard" when I signed up I marked something to keep the blog from appearing in search engines. I do know that I can put my exact title and info in Google and my blog doesn't come up as an option.
So, the only way you can get to it is to give someone the address, but I don't have the option activated that would make them sign in to the system. Hope that I made some sense.
Also, right after starting the blog, I switched (at blogger's suggestion) to their new system-"blogspot", which is easier to edit from, but didn't change the setting options.

Well I have another blogger question
How do I import book pictures into my sidebar? I've seen the page template things but how can I get pictures onto it? Can I use library thing or something else to make it simple? Also how can I get it to manage to allow me to put more than one image?
So far I have found blogger very good but just can't manage this one

Just wanted to drop back in and say I LOVE LOVE LOVE blogger 
It is soo much easier than what I had before and the functions are great.
Courtney, did you work out your problem? 'Cause I now know the answer

I have a private blog with Blogger that is just for my mom where I post pictures of the kids, their school work, etc...
I have it set up so that only people I invite can read it. Hers is the only address on the invitation list. If anyone were to try to type in the address it denies them access. If you didn't want anyone to see it, I would think that you just wouldn't put any addresses on your list.
Does that help at all?

I can do, if you knew my ineptitude regards computers you would appauld
Are you wanting to link to a blog? go to page elements,(in the layout tab) there are lots of wonderful choices there. Click on 'LInk List' then you import the address and type in the name of the site/blog.
You can create all different sections for there, like on my blog I have blogs together, and websites etc. To group different ones you click on the button saying 'add page elements' and drag to the side.
I also managed to add in some books, using the 'HTML/Java script' button. I then copied and pasted a html code from library thing. I can explain more if you want to do that.
Now if someone can tell me whether blogger will let me have different baskets/shelves like typepad blogs

Oh and btw if you wanted to have a direct link on the bottom of your pages here go to 'setting's' up the top of this page and you can put you link in there so it shows up in blue. I was so excited the day I worked out how to do that. I know some would roll their eyes at that  but someone has to relate??

I just looked at your site Mary, it's lovely, and you know how to upload photos!! I learnt how to do that last night. So much easier on blogger. Can you tell I love blogger  I just love your boys names (I know I have said that before but hey, I do )

Erin - thank yo soo much. The info you provided is exactly what I needed to know!! i am somewhat inept at some of this stuff!!
Thank you for your compliment of my boys names. We try to make them a little different but stil with meaning. I must say that I hope I have more girls because I am sort of tapped out on boys names
I love blogger too!! I find it fun and easy to do. I enjoy keeping up wiht friends and family through blogging. it is my little piece of paradise on the computer.
Also - I never could figure out how to put my link in blue. I really am happy you told me. It would have taken me forever to figure it out i am going to do it now!

I can totally relate.
Regards the settings, when you go to 'settings' then choose 'edit profile' go down to you 'signature' and add it there after your dc's names. use the URL= with brackets (sorry I can't show you here the computer won't let me  )and then finish your address with the /URL and brackets.
It may make you shorten your dc's names/ signature as you may have too many characters. I had to change mine, but then again I have a website and a blog.
I can't believe I'm helping someone else with 'computer stuff'!
