Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm not exactly sure how to interpret this: http://theblacksheepdog.wordpress.com/2011/06/17/god-love-yo u-god-bless-you-and-good-bye/. Is he no longer a priest?

How sad. Watching Fr. Corapi on EWTN was one of the things that started the ball rolling on my return to the Church and started many conversations with my husband. My husband converted within months of my return to Mass.

ETA: Fr.Joe's post on the subject. I had no idea this was all happening. What a dissapointment. My prayers go out to all involved.

This is a very sad situation, indeed. We do not know the whole truth or even most of it.

Father Corapi, a member of The Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT), issued a public statement on June 17. His superior issued this official statement today.

Father Gerrard Sheehan (an excerpt from the statement) wrote:
We request your prayers and the intercession of the Blessed Mother for the healing of Fr. Corapi and for any who have been negatively affected by Fr. Corapi's decision to end his ministry as a priest and a member of the SOLT.

Fr Gerrard Sheehan, SOLT
Regional Priest Servant

Catholic Culture offers an informative article which sheds more light on the subject.

On matters of faith, the moderators of this board seek the Church's words in offering clarification on topics. Since there is very little from Holy Mother Church at this time, save the one statement from Father Sheehan, this thread will be locked. The topic is outside the boundaries of this home education board and the abilities of the moderators of this board to moderate.

In seeking truth, we are called to charity and prayer, trusting that in the end, God's truth will set us free.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus enfold all His priests within His Heart, strengthening them with all grace to live In persona Christi. May Our Lady protect and conform all priests, especially in light of the challenges and temptations of the current culture, to the image of her Son, Jesus. And may St. Padre Pio and St. Jean Marie Vianney intercede for Father Corapi, all of our priests today, and always.

Mary, Mother of priests, pray for them.
