(Not sure this is the right forum)
Please would you recommend good sharpeners. I am so frustrated with trying to sharpen pencils. The only sharpener I like right now is the Faber Castell trio which I have had for years, mainly because it does our jumbo triangular pencils.
I need sharpeners for the following:
1.Ticonderoga HB #2
2. Waterolor pencils - Prismacolor, Derwent
3. Color pencils - Prismacolor Scholastic and Regular
4. Crayola color pencils
5. Prang color pencils
I really dislike the Prismacolor Scholastic sharpeners that I bought. Our old electric sharpener (12 years old) is horrible too.
Thanks for any recommendations.

I will try to track down the better sharpeners around here, but the ones that work best for colored pencils I have found are "artists" sharpeners, not scholastic. Though, I do keep a bunch of inexpensive ones around that the kids have free access too, though they have to pay me if they lose it and want a new one.
We are so lucky that our house was previously owned by a school principal. It came with two vintage wall-mounted school sharpeners! They are simply the best for regular pencils, though I will not allow the boys to use them for colored since I think they will mess it up.

The ones that have consistently gotten the best reviews here through the years:

Lyra 2-hole pencil sharpener for handheld
Past Threads
Prismacolor pencils are picky. There is a specific Prismacolor sharpener sold by Prismacolor - but it is just a KUM metal sharpener inside. That is what we use - just the plain KUM handheld dual sharpener.

Ok, I know this is going to sound crazy but I bought a bunch of cheap pencil sharpners at the Dollar Treeand they are AWESOME! Might want to try it!

OK - I ended up ordering this one - it arrived really quickly. I have tried it on the big pile of the Ticonderoga pencils that my sons need for the PSAT next week - and it seems to be working well.
Maybe I need to have a separate one for pencils and one for colored pencils?

I don't know about hand held sharpeners, but I believe it was here on these boards that I learned the colored pencils will ruin a mechanical sharpener, whether cranked or electric.
This is our current fancy sharpener, though we have a couple of others that work well, too, and I bought a dozen of these that the boys can buy from me if they lose theirs. They seem to work well since the boys have not complained, and I have not noticed that annoying thing where the tip of the colored pencil falls out.I pick up a lot of pencils and sometimes grab them in a pinch to write with, and I never find missing tips that were common with inferior sharpeners. I tend to shop for sharpeners from Dick Blick or Jerry's Artarama wahen ordering art supplies because artists are picky about their sharpeners.

This is our all time favorite sharpener. It comes as a one-hole and two-hole sharpener. It is reminiscent of the metal sharpener that I used in my high school art classes and does well sharpening ticonderoga and colored pencils. The children all like using it and are very careful about putting it back in a specified drawer so that it doesn't get lost. They know that if they lose it, they will need to use a different sharpener and they don't want to do so.
