I made some homemade notebooks using the 5-stitch method mentioned above. It was easy and a great project for my daughter. These were made for a birthday party present, and I posted pictures on my blog if you'd like to take a look.

This would be a great craft for making nature books or art books.

those are neat! I think we did this.. or at least something similiar for a girl's birthday party.. the activity was putting together journels and the party favor was a pretty pen to take home with your journel. Fun! and it worked out it was one of the times we had a wide age range here.. and it was somethign everyone rather liked.
