We have used a program with lesson plans again this year, and we will finish it up...but the children are politely begging me to NOT do it again.
I need lesson plans, or nothing gets done, I know this from experience in the past. I cannot hand my child a math book and say "here, do it" they like to have their week mapped out. I need to do this before the school year, because I know trying to do it every weekend for the week before will not happen.
does anyone have any lesson planning books, software, websites, old posts they can link me to....to help me tackle this giant?
I hate to reinvent the wheel, but my children are wishing that they could have some other options this next year,,,,and that IS why we homeschool (well, one of the reasons anyway...)

Donna Young's site is good -- is this the kind of thing you are looking for?

For software, I have friends who love Homeschool Tracker. I have fiddled with the free trial of Simply Charlotte Mason Planner, and I like it a lot, though it isn't cheap. I decided against it because my oldest was only in kindergarten and it seemed like overkill, but it does seem ideal for someone doing a Charlotte Mason approach, especially with multiple children.

Wondering if you're looking for something to record lesson plans on...or if you're looking for something that helps you coordinate more?
I use the calendar program on my laptop to write and journal my lesson plans, but I have a few other ideas for you. Some free...some VERY inexpensive.
** Willa already suggested Donna Young's site which is sort of THE standard in free downloadable planner pages! Definitely take a look there!
** I absolutely LOVE and find so charming the Home Learning Notes available for free download at Small Meadow Press. They're great for recording booklists, field trips, etc. And, they make lovely journaling pages if you want the children to journal their daily work.
** If you home educate with a Charlotte Mason style at all (narrations, dictations, nature study, living books), you might consider the very inexpensive Tanglewood Corebook a help. I like it a lot! It's only $5.25 to download and then you can print as many times or pages as you like...several years...several children.
** There's a simple one at GuestHollow.
Hope these help, mamalove, but do let us know if we can help you narrow down your search any more!

I don't know if this is at all helpful, but one year I used this method to help with my planning. I say "method" because I didn't use the same resources as this person, but I found the checklist style to be freeing. I just checked things off as we went along, which helped me to feel like we were staying on track, but I also had lots of freedom to add in some fun stuff. It did take some time over the summer to created the checklists, but I found it to be worth the time that year.

I use Homeschool Tracker and I really like it. It is very similar to laying out the entire school year on paper, its just in the computer.
At the beginning of the year I enter in the subjects, the resources for the subjects, and every lesson. That takes the majority of the time. Then every Sunday I print out the lessons for the upcoming week and they are checked off as they get finished.
I have tried different methods, but this is the one that works the best for us. We have the Plus version and it was worth the money.
