Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Don't throw stones, ladies but I am looking into a high school program for ds that would be all layed out for all four years on computer CD or the internet. This year ds created his own simple, daily check-box system of subjects/school work. He was motivated to work ahead and on his own. He would like to finish high school in two years. Based on this, I'm thinking he'd do well with a box program and he loves being on the computer.

K12 is only now offering their 9th gr. program, meaning ds could not work ahead.

We have wonderful discussions now prompted by daily news and life events. Before our elbow-to-elbow school work helped to jump start such discussion. Thus, I am more ready to consider a box curriculum to assist him in working ahead and on his own.

Any input? Any at all? Any?

In Florida we have the Florida Virtual School that pretty much provides what you're describing, I think. All on-line classes, and reasonably priced. Maybe Arizona has something similar? FVS has actually gotten very good reviews from the people I've talked to.

Thanks, Kelly, but the AZ Virtual School does not yet have high school.

Victoria,
Have you checked out the ISLAS thread? Maybe that's what you're looking for for your teenager. I must say it looks pretty good.

Hey Kelly! (Not that I'm following you around or anything. . .)

ISLAS is great, but I'm not sure it would work for condensing 4 years into 2 (if I understoon Victoria correctly). My 16 year old took 4 courses this year, and it was a really full load (especially since we're doing other courses at home). But it could meet the needs for a kid who loves the computer!

OK Anne Marie, I'm surfing over to the islas thread right now to continue my islas conversation with you there! See you over there.
