Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can anyone give me some background and current info about Mercyhursta small, Catholic college in PA? My 15 yod is interested in some of their major programs but we're a bit wary?

On another note, does anyone have a listing of the schools which have signed the mandatum?

THANKS!

My husband graduated from Mercyhurst in the 80's. I don't know if what he knows of the place would be helpful to you...if so, please PM me and I'll pass on your questions to him.

Dear Mary,
This college is near us and my daughter applied but decided not to go. It is only nominally Catholic (but does have a beautiful grotto and chapel). It has courses of study not readily available elsewhere like international intelligince and a first rate archeology and criminology departments. They also have a pretty fair music/dance program with a concert hall designed after the Met. The people of Erie have really donated heavily to this college and it shows. Very beautiful. However, I doubt any religion professor has signed a mandatum. The Sisters of Mercy usually side in solidarity with any controversity the Benedictines find themselves in (home of Sister Joan Chittister) Also, a class on world religions is mandatory for all students.

Faith and Family magazine just published a fall article with a list of all the colleges that have signed the mandatum or at least are in agreement with its principles. Perhaps you can order a single issue?

This seems to be an up to date list list even though it was originally loaded in 2005. Mercyhurst appeals to my dd too, but after looking at the listing of religion courses my impression is that they are liberal.
