Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I would like to use Richard Maybury's "Uncle Eric" books as the basis for a government/economics course. I am aware of the recommended order for reading the books. Any suggestions for doing this either with or without the guides? I am afraid that the guides may become a bit burdensome. On the other hand, we may need them for some direction.

Thanks for any help you can give me:) It is appreciated!

I started doing them as read alouds... it's so much more conducive to discussion as we go.

I didn't have time to read them aloud, though that would have been my preference. If you have the time to read it aloud, it's totally worthwhile. I had my older student read and then narrate/discuss. These were really fruitful discussions. We called our lunch hours "current events hour" and she narrated these books at that time, and then we all discussed and usually related the reading to a current event.

We didn't use the guides - just the books. Great books! Highly recommend!

Thank you, ladies. I think DS will read, narrate/discuss and write a few essays. I'll consider reading aloud, but that may not be realistic. If anyone has used and "loved" the study guides, please let me know. Otherwise, I think we will do best without them.
Thanks again!
