Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Kristie has mentioned using Math Without Borders for Algebra II, I think. I'm checking it out for my kids next year. I really need something that will give them quite a lot of support, because a) my skills are pretty rusty and b)it's a new baby year. We're also looking at various online and coop classes, which use (variously) Abeka, MUS, and Glencoe. The Foerster 's book used by Math Without Borders looks like it has more real world applications, which is something my kids like, but neither is terribly fond of math and a really difficult curriculum is probably not going to work well. My ds is probably going to be a languages major, and though my dd is science oriented (biology/natural history) she is not math-oriented. (Actually, I'm not sure whether she ought to go on with algebra 2 or do geometry instead.)

Any thoughts? I really need something that will help them succeed. I haven't done such a good job to this point. (We've used Jacobs, by the way.)

ETA: I guess Teaching Textbooks might be a possibility, too.

We used MUS Alg II for my non-mathy kiddo. I think it is thorough without being over-the-top difficult. The videos would be a big help in your situation I would think. Ds never used them so I can't speak to their quality specifically, but dd used the videos for her 5th grade year and she liked them. The teacher has a very nice manner about him and his explanations are clear.

Have you looked at Art of Problem Solving and their online classes? I haven't used them -- just stumbled across them via another online forum -- but their program looks really interesting. My current high-schooler is very much a Saxon man, but I had knocked this his way to see what he thought about it for some higher math things, and it would be very much on the table for my younger kids.

We have very much enjoyed the Foerster's- but only used it for my very mathy kid. My non-mathy (very) child really enjoyed Jacobs. The MWBorders man is very good in his teaching- but math is my child's gift so I don't know how that translates Jacobs reccomends going on to Foerster's when you are done with his books FYI...
