Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

For those of you who used a textbook for a 10th grade world history - what did you use and what did you think about it. I used Setons world history for my oldest (we hated it!). I am looking for a tradition text book style that has tests and an answer key with it.

Well, I did see on: saxonhomeschool.hmhco.com. Holt history: World History human legacy. I can get the text, teachers guide and tests (with answer key). Looks thorough and gives a good practice in reading, assignments, studying and taking tests.

I also think I will get their english text: Holt Elements of English level 4. Looks like a good review of grammar and punctuation stuff for SAT/ACT tests plus a section on all kinds of writing.

If anyone has used these please chime in here!

I have been using World History: Patterns of Interaction. McDougal-Littell It's a secular text, obviously, but it seems to have a lot of online support, which I liked. I added several Catholic books, eg Hilaire Belloc's.   Sorry, I don't know anything about the Holt one.

Christ the King Lord of History with answer key at Seton Home Study store. We used lots of historical fiction along with it. And they are both reasonably priced.

Hi Willa-
Care to list the Catholic books you add? I would love to see the list!

Blessings,
Tracey

Hi Tracey,

I put some of them here at the beginning of the year.

My high schooler is reading the whole textbook, but as a family we are focusing on the middle ages, since next year he is doing US History and we can pick up the history flow from the early modern times from that perspective.

I use the Internet Medieval Sourcebook for primary sources.    This syllabus though college level has been helpful.

I like this series Leading Events in Church History for Catholic perspective.
