Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone taken a look at CHC's new high school website. If so, what do you think?

It seems to be focused on their book, High School of your Dreams - which I don't have yet. I guess I need to get that book before I can really comment more on the web site.

I have it. It's mostly a book of internet links.
I'm sorry to say I didn't find it very useful at all.

I like their new high school website. It has a lot of helpful things on it....including a scholarship...who couldn't use that these days?

And my daughter used High School of Your Dreams. We found much more in it than just internet links. It has essay topics for each course listed, multiple for-credit projects for students who do best with a hands-on approach, assignments for most of the courses, suggestions for texts for each course, Church teaching and references on a number of courses and detailed instructions on how to compile high school credit in ways that you might not have thought of. Also suggestions for use with students who are headed for vocational schools, college or directly into the work force and forms to plan for each year, transcripts and more...we found it very useful. My daughter is now in college and doing well.

I haven't had time to visit the site, but we have also found HSOYD to be very useful in putting together our courses, particularly ones where I didn't just have ideas for essay or research topics or experiential-learning projects right at my fingertips. In fact, I've lent it out but am hoping to get it back soon, to build more variety into my plans for my rising 9th-grader.

I used it a lot, though hardly exclusively, throughout my oldest daughter's high-school experience -- she's also in college and doing very well.

My general sense of HSOYD is that it's for people who want to design a course of study collaboratively with their student, from year to year, and have both the desire and the time to do a lot of intensive, personalized planning. Again, I still haven't spent time on the new website, but if it's devoted to HSOYD, then I'd imagine that that's the thrust there as well.
