My 16yold 11th grade dd is very very seriously looking into applying at JP the Great U.
We don't know anyone IRL who goes (we know of someone, but when I called and sent email never got a response).
We would love to hear first hand, or as close to it as possible , about applying, finding scholarships (so much $$$, my dd asked, "why must it cost so much to serve the Lord" LOL0, experiences there, etc.
I'd love to hear anything you all know about it. We do follow them on FB and their website has been scoured by us really well!

Wish I could help. Our son considered it but went to FUS. The admissions director we meet when he came out here was very helpful. I bet they would put you in contact with a current student for more personal experiential questions.

I'd be interested in anything you learn, Kacky!
My oldest had a great time at UD this past week-end...and it's only 25 minutes away ...right now UD or Christendom are her top picks...She is realistic about the money...whichever college will give her the most $ will be her top choice at this point.

Hi Kacky and all,
We know several people who attend or have graduated from JPII (said 'JP2' around here) and they love/loved it.
It is a three-year, year-round schedule which people say makes it less money overall. The schedule is not traditional - I remember a graduation in December - but people don't seem to mind.
I will email the people I know and ask them to write up their experiences.
I will say it is located in a great city! :)

oooo that would be great Erica and Stef. I'd really love to know what those who have graduated are doing now!
We call it JPU around here because we have a local high school called JP2, makes for amusing conversations with other CAtholic moms when I say dd wants to go to JP2, they think she is headed to high school
When I called the university, the guy I chatted with said in the end, you'll end up paying a little over $100, 000
This is freaking me out and dd!!! But she feels so strongly about the filmmaking so w certainly want to explore it!!!!

My son is interested too and I have e-mailed them and asked about CLEP and such--they are always very responsive. It is a 3 year program but I have to believe there must be a lot of scholarhsip money as it is pricey.

I don't think there is much scholarship money - being a new college - no real endowment to draw from for that. Even the established orthodox Catholic colleges have small endowments and lower scholarships in relation to the other more "known" schools who offer so much more in scholarships.

Uhm, well, I asked my friend and this is her first child in college, so they're still kinda feeling their way through it and so she doesn't feel qualified at all to give advice. She said all the info on pricing/scholarship is on the website. I think what Mary says is spot on though.
