Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am working on my dd transcripts and would like to ask you a question: how do you account for college courses taken for dual credit? my dd took Spanish 201, for example. It earned her 3 credits-do you count them as 3 credits (making a note that these are semester credits) or do you count them as 1 high school credit?

Thanks,

Natalia

Natalia,

I would mark it as 1 high school credit. I use MODG, and that's how they do it for their transcripts. Of course, you would submit the college's transcript along with a high school one when the time comes to apply for college, if your dd goes that route.

Thank you, Tami. You confirmed what I thought.

Our previous umbrella school counted a one-semester college course as a one-year high school credit (e.g. one semester of college Spanish is one credit on your high school transcript). This is also how colleges determine placement - if you've had a year of high school language, they place you in the second semester of that language.

This is what we do...AWESOME! I think we flagged it on Devin's transcript with an asterisk + footnote to college info.

Love,

Natalia:

It sometimes depends on the state - so check about any agreements or requirements in your state.

In our state, you cannot duel enroll unless there is an agreement with the University and in that agreement you agree that one college credit only counts as 1/2 a high school credit. It is a pain - but it is what it is and that is how we have to handle it if we go that route. However, the colleges do give a substantial discount to you when you duel enroll.
