Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Serveral of my friends with schooled kids are talking about sending their dc to high school. Uniforms, choosing schools, where did the time go etc etc. I am SOOOO glad we are not going down that road, but at the same time I feel like we are missing out on one of lifes little milestones. Even though it wasn't a totally pleasant experience, I vividly remember my first day of highschool.

I would like to mark the occassion in some way, but am unsure of how to go about it, or even if it's worth the effort. After all nothing much will change at the beginning of our school year, just more of the same. Have any of you marked the occassion in some way?

We are in exactly the same position, and I was unsure ourselves as to how to celebrate this milestone.

so I am watching this thread with interest.

God bless

Well I never have done anything but keep thinking I should

I remember my mum having a formal presentation for my siblings with their hs group and lunch after, way back then.

I was thinking more a family tea, inviting special friends and family perhaps. At this rate it will be for Chiara's end of Yr 12 next year, never for an end of yr 6. So together aren't I

Another thing you might do is go the German route and make a special school present - I forget the name - but it's a large cone filled with goodies and gifties. (And my German friends also buy a special outfit for that first day of school and take photos of their children...)
