OK - That link may not work? The Well Crafted Argument By Fred White. DS is sick of writing things one way (the Seton Way). This seems to teach alternative forms of writing and is used in some college freshman classes.

Just wondering if I am crazy for using it.

I'm not familiar with this one, but a college text could be a good introduction to the kinds of writing he'll actually be asked to do in college. The more flexibility and adaptability he has, in terms of composition skills, the better. I'm a huge believer in the basic 5-paragraph essay, but being able to use and adapt that in multifaceted ways, and to be able to analyze things in writing in different formats, is a real survival skill.
