People often ask me what 'grade level' my children are in - but I've quite simply, lost track! I mean some use, for example, Apologia Biology in year 9 - some use it in year 10, and in some books it's recommended for year 11!
Take this, that my daughter is just finishing up:
Teaching Textbooks, Algebra II
Apologia Biology
Religion - Didache, Book 1 - Introduction to Catholicism
English for Australian Schools, book 3 (old, out-of-print, was once considered year 10 level, but covers a lot of grammar not covered at all these days).
Student Writing Intensive (Completed Level B some time ago, and has now begun the Continuation Course, Level C)
ABCs of Christian Culture - just finished the 'Patristic Church'
First Form Latin
We also continue with the IEW Poetry Memorisation, and she has Flute lessons and choir each week.
The thing is, she's now 17 - she had heaps of struggles, especially in the early years, so we're not as far along as I originally 'planned', but she now is going very well. Technically, she's had a full 12-13 years of 'schooling'.
With the complex system in place here in Australia, I just have no idea what 'level' she is at, although we looked at an entrance exam for College recently, and it was so easy, she could have passed that with no problems at all.
Is there a simple way to figure out what 'grade' they are in, or do I just go by number of years, or what texts they are using? Or, just pick a number, and go with it? There's no 'credits', etc. that you seem to have in the US, so I'm just not sure.
Or, maybe just relax, and when it comes the time that I feel, 'yep, that's enough', call it the end of year 12!
What do you think???

Is this the Ridout book? We are using them too We are using and have Books 1, 2 and 5. (Think we may have 6 too)
No answer keys though I've searched and doesn't seem to be any.
I love your choice of books, we have similar tastes.
BTW If you are after a Geography title for your highschoolers we have just purchased Brenda Runkle's Geography set (Geo Matters), although I purchased from Abe Books.

I think our system is easier than the Americans, having to worry about credits would give me hives.
That's very interesting about the exam.
I'd just go by age, so she's 17 she is grade 11 or 12, whatever is convenient.

I agree, when she is ready to transition just call it a day.
Dd16 told us last night (we consider her grade 11) she is planning on studying hard this year and finishing up her studies at the end of the year. Next year she will take a gap year and work and then Uni the year after.

Hi Erin - yes, the Ridout book - we have books 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 - I thought book 5 was the final one? Is there a book 6?
There weren't any answer keys as far as I'm aware, as they're pretty much 'self-correcting' - I guess they relied on the teacher if there was a problem! They are good, aren't they?
I have just agreed to let them drop the Grammar books, though, to concentrate on the 'Continuation Course' from IEW - that involves around 2 essays a week, which should keep them busy! Hubby suggested it's writing, rather than grammar, that needs to be concentrated on now.
Thanks, and God bless,
