Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Would you please share how you get extra curricular activities on your child's transcript - eg musical instrument playing - including band/orchestra, dance or gymnatics, soccer and the like.

What about voluntary work and jobs - would this go on the application rather than the transcript?

Thank you so much. I am new to the whole transcript thing (i went to school in the UK) and I am trying to figure out whether I can do this myself rather than enroll my children just because I am scared of transcripts

If they constitute enough hours (120, for a high school credit) I would list them as fine art or PE or music class.

Again, if there are enough hours, you could list this as a work credit. Otherwise I would save it for the resume/application.

Tami - does the 120 hours include practice time. eg my dd who wants to major in music, practices for one hour daily as well as her once weekly lesson. She has enough hours for a credit if we include practice time.

Thanks for your help.

Marilyn, you know I have no experience with this yet, but... that's how I'd list it if I were doing a transcript for my ds. I'd include practice, performance, and lesson time -- practice is like homework, after all -- and identify it on the the transcript as "Piano" or "Violin" or whatever...

Sometimes, though, I do think that people give nonacademic electives (like music) a half credit for a whole year... only I'm not really sure what performance counts for. Argh. That wasn't much help, Marilyn, I'm sorry.

We count music practice time, all exercise (gym, bike riding, whatever) as school time.

I would perhaps include a field for Community Service hours and/or a class called Work Experience (I know this sounds kind of silly, but it's an actual high school class in many school districts).

My son's transcript includes some of his Boy Scout time as Leadership - as a class, in other words, for credit. This pertains more to his time in BSA as a teen, where he actually held leadership positions.

yes, Marilyn, I would include practice time. And any rehearsals for performances/recitals if they come up. My ds plays guitar for mass each week, and I count that too in his time, in addition to daily practice and the group practice.
