I hate physics. Ds and I did saxon physics last year, (he is in 11th now- did bio in 8th, and chem in 9th in an outside class -no longer available). DS wants to go into engineering so we decided to do physics again and are doing Physics principles and applications by Giancoli. I thought after saxon it would be no problem - but this is driving me nuts. I am also doing saxon advanced math with ds (were on lesson 92). I have to do this stuff too, this work almost drove me crazy tonight! Someday ds owes me big!
How do you all cope with such a work load! I wish I had a free evening - but I have math and physics every night.
Sorry for the whine!

Empathy here...ds is struggling with Apologia physics and I don't know why. We are reviewing the first several exercises/practice questions to make sure he can move forward with confidence. Weirdly, I remember none of these formulas from high school, but they make sense mathematically so I can't figure out where ds has a disconnect.
So, whine away and be assured of a completely empathetic listener!

Ladies, Thanks! Its nice to know I'm not the only night owl sitting up doing high school homework.
Nancy (Weirdly, I remember none of these formulas from high school), I can beat that - we did saxon physics last year and I don't remember! I actually never had it in high school! And at times they don'e make sense to me so I really have to work at it. At other times it clicks. It just takes me a long time to work at every day between the physics and math.
Funny, I do more homework now then I ever did in when I was in high school or college! I feel that there is just no way to get around me doing these subjects too! So, I gave up cofee last year for lent and never took up the habit after that - But, my cofee pot is calling me! I need cafeine (how do you spell that!) Stayed up way to late figuring out physics!

I have to say...unless it just could not be worked out...I would consider finding a tutor or a class at a community college.....if it seemed like the thing to do.....
BUt, you are NOT alone......I am afraid the Latin was making my head swim the other day...and it is beginning....

Hi, Barb. I don't know what kind of engineering your son is interested in but my oldest son is in his third year of electrical engineering and I asked him about this. He was impressed that your son managed to finish Saxon Physics  So am I!! Sam used Physics in Your Life from the Teaching Company. What he really uses is Algebra and Trig. He would have spent more time reviewing Algebra II his senior year if he could do it over again. For electrical Engineering at least he said you just don't need that much physics.
Bragging alert! He is doing really well in college and is the top student in his EE class. He has had three internships, one at General Electric (Locomotive division) and two for Joy Global (mining equipment).

Thanks Shari! I actually miss saxon a bit! This Giancoli physics text we are using uses alot of trig. and algebra so I guess it is a good thing!
Ds is interested in mechanical engineering, so perhaps would use physics more then electrical.

Your welcome, Barb! I have to tell you that I really admire your fortitude  If Sam had waited for me to help him with all that math he would still be slogging through Algebra I !!!
