Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have it on very good authority that my son is very likely to be named a National Merit Semifinalist and I have been requested to provide an "official" transcript. He was enrolled in school for his Junior year so the school will provide those transcripts, but he was homeschooled for his Freshman and Sophomore years. The school represented told me this transcript needs to bear a seal from the school and be official. He has no grades other than the ones that I give him as I did not go through any "real" school for those two years and just "did my own thing". Has anyone else been in this situation who can give me some advice or guidance on how to do this and what the NMSP considers official.

Patty,

HSLDA suggests that you contact the following phone number:

National Merit Scholarship Corporation at 847-866-5100

I had to call the PSAT headquarters at one point in time and they are very helpful. If they are not helpful, I would contact HSLDA.

Congrats to your son. My son, also, is very likely to be named a semi-finalist. It is such a long waiting period!

Tonya

Can't help you with info --- but congratulations to both your sons for being at this point in the National Merit competition!

Thanks Mary. It is fun getting all of the mail from the different colleges. Now if we can just translate this into a scholarship!

Patty, did you solve your problem? Could you just create a transcript from your homeschool and make it look professional?

Thanks Mary.

Tonya, I am going to have to meet with someone at my son's school to make sure that I match up what I call the class with the name they used when they gave him transfer credits so that it isn't confusing for anyone look at his combined transcripts. My "due date" for this assignment isn't until fall so I have a little bit of time, but when I do get it all together I will let you know. One thing I think I have figured out is what is meant by a "sealed transcript". The administrator at my son's school made a gesture when she said it like a notary pressing a seal, but from a little online searching it appears that a sealed transcript is just one that is sealed in an envelope and come directly from the school (in this case me) so that it cannot be doctored.
