Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Well, I have put this off as long as I can, and now I must do something or risk my ds college entrance.

I have always designed my own curriculum. I do use a lot of MODG especially for history and science. And I really *like* the way that we do school. Had we stayed in the states, I would not have a problem, but everything is different now that we are in Wales.

What I need is someone to track my ds credits. He is into his sophomore year, and I have done nothing except keep my own transcript. I had panicked about this when he was younger, but then I remember reading about Elizabeth and what she did when Michael was applying for college entrance.

We have elected not to do the GCSEs since the way that we school is different from the UK system. I don't really want someone telling me what curriculum to use, but I do want someone who will monitor his grades or credits. And at the end, give him some sort of diploma. Nancy told me about TLCI, but I must admit that I am completely intimidated by the whole thing (perhaps I am afraid I will be told I have not done a very good job)!

Meanwhile, time is ticking away. I do believe that he wants to go to school in the UK, but of course, in typical teenage fashion, his mind changes daily!

So I am asking for advice. Be kind as I know that I have let this go too long ...

Carole, if you have decided against GCSEs but think ds is likely to want to go to a British university, then there is a sideways route in that might work for your family. Many (most?) university courses will accept a certain number of credits from the Open University as a qualification for entry. If you wanted to do this, you could simply carry on schooling as you are, and keeping a US style transcript in case he opts for college in the States. When (or if) he has a firm idea what British university course he wants to apply for, he could do a couple of OU courses in the relevant field (check first that this is acceptable to the university department). That way he should be able bypass the GCSE / A level system completely.

Thank you, Kathryn, for this information. I must admit that I am still trying to figure out the A level system and how it works. But this seems to fit well with our homeschooling efforts.
