Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Someone has suggested my 11th grade daughter read this book with a lit. class, I have never read it. Can anyone give me some insight into this book?

Thanks,

Hi Jeanne,
Here is a pretty detailedsynopsis online
There are some questionable settings and language and a somewhat depressing overall theme, but it is a pretty standard high school title (most every high school lit class uses it at one time or another). It includes dealing with the s_xual ideas of the main character, though he never actually has s_x (he has a prostitute come to his room, but can't "go through with it"). Also, a former teacher whom he looks up to almost makes a s_xual advance on him and send the main character further into thinking the world is impossible.
Is it a lit class at a school? Or just a group of homeschooled people getting together?
