As y'all know, we're heading back east to Dumfries this summer for dh to help open the new school, Pope JP the Great.
Our almost 17yod will be a senior next year; right now, we're trying to get her into St. Cecilia Academy (in Nashville, TN) run by the Nashville Dominicans, boarding with a host family.
If that falls thru, we want her to go to Seton or Bishop O'Connell -- comments, advise, insights? Homeschooling, at least for now, isn't an option as she and I end up fussing at each other and NO ONE gets anything done then !

I'll pm you.

I think there's a new Catholic HS opening in front royal in the Fall. Maybe someone will pop on here with more info about it. That's a good haul from Dumfries though.

That's right - there is. They are using the HLI building. That would probably be an hour away for you.

Both of my brothers went to O'Connell and my sister and I went to Seton. You definitely get a better education at Seton and I know of someone who recently pulled their son out of Paul VI to go here and absolutely LOVES it since its so small and orthodox. Not too far up the road from Dumfries, I think...

Mary,
Welcome, in advance, to Dumfries! (My dh and I lived in CO when we were first married.)
Seton is not far from here. I know others from this area that went there. Now that they have widened RT. 234, it is a fairly easy trip.

I heard through one of my sisters that there is a long waiting list at Seton. One of the reasons is that it's less expensive than the other Catholic high schools in our area.

YES! As a matter of fact, I am trying to catch up with his wife this weekend....we keep playing phone tag and it's my turn! She's been my best friend since forever.
They have a wonderful bunch of children who would be great playmates for your young uns! It IS a small world! What a blessing you will be to everyone here in VA!
