Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

As you can see in this thread High School 101, we will be homeschooling our dd for high school next year.So I am curious, how does a Charlotte Mason high school look like? What subject do you cover? what aspects of CM's methods do you use? Do you use short lessons? Is there any CM high school resource out there that i can look into?

Thanks,

Natalia

I fixed the link, one too many http's! CM High School

I found it very interesting to compare 7th grade (dd, next year) to 10th grade. As they state at that website, remember that they schooled over 6 days and adjust accordingly for modern schools.

Grades 7-9 (periods 30-40 minutes)
English 8 hours 25 minutes add composition and more History
Mathematics 3 hours add Euclid
Science 3 hours 20 minutes Botany, Geology, Physiology
Languages 3 hours 45 minutes Add German, Latin, and Italian (40 phrases in 60 days)
Drill, etc. 3 hours
Ninth grade adds Morals, Astronomy, Algebra
Total : 21 hours, 30 minutes

Grades 10-12 (periods 30-40 minutes)
English- including History, Grammar, Literature, Economics, etc. 8 hours 10 minutes
Mathematics 3 hours
Science 4 hours 10 minutes
Languages 6 hours 10 minutes
Drill 2 hours 30 minutes
Total 24 hours

Hi Natalia,

I know I am jumping into this thread a little late but a couple resources I would recommend looking into would be Catherine Levisons books Charlotte Mason and More Charlotte Mason. They are simple, quick how-to books that you might see if your library carries. Catherine gives helpful ideas of how to apply CM with high schoolers.

Simplycharlottemason.com might also have some resources you can use.

HTH.
