Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Would love a little help, as I am not tremendously art & crafty (have I mentioned that before? )

My youngest daughter is making her First Holy Communion in October and we wanted to help her do something special and tangible to give to Jesus on this special day.

She has a failing, she trying SO hard to conquer! I thought that if she could make a paper flower for every day she does not do this thing, it would go towards a lovely bouquet or wreath to offer Jesus on the first day He comes to her in Holy Communion - as an offering of her love. Hopefully this length of time will also permenantly strengthen her in this fault.

The only thing is, I don't really know HOW to make paper flowers! Does anyone have a good site to recommend, or just their own experience to share with me in how to make them? As long as it doesn't require an arts degree to do them!

We have a great paper flower kit with patterns - I got it from Scholastic for a $1 and we love it. I has enabled my daughter to make a lovely variety of paper flowers - not just the puffy one I knew how to make. Anyway, I can't find it on-line anywhere, but I'm betting it is very similar to the Klutz Press. It is so simple I wish that they had the patterns on line somewhere.   This site has 5 different flower patterns so had the most vareity I could find in one place. Basically what you do with most of the different flowers is cut out several layers of tissue paper in the shape you want - they can be petalled flowers for daisies, daffodils, or lilies or plain circles (of variying sizes) for roses, zinnias, bachelor's buttons. Then thread onto a pipe cleaner. You can wrap yellow tissue paper on the tip of the stem for the stamen. The layering is like this. I wish I could get you copies of the patterns from this booklet - they are really simple yet it's hard to describe. Would be much easier if you could see it. PM me and I'll see about getting that to you.
