Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

So, our Parish has each child bring a banner to hang on the family's pew for First Communion (we are participating with her Prep class). I was thinking about having my mom do an embroidered one that we could use for each child, and then I thought we'll just make a felt one. I finally decided I just didn't have the creative energy to think it through and ended up buying a packaged banner kit. I felt kind of guilty for not doing some special (you should've seen the examples they had - beautifully handmade), but as she was assembling it today I realized that it didn't matter to her. She was perfectly happy to glue together the kit and add her own special touches! When finished, she told her brother that her banner was so "awesome".

Just wanted to share that sometimes I get in my own way and forget to see it through her eyes. She didn't need a fancy banner, she was happy to just share time with me and talk about her FHC while using glitter glue.

That's lovely and so true. Sometimes we do need to just step back and see things as our children do.

The best part of being creative with kids is the quality time, not how good it looks!
My kids are always teaching me things!
Congratulations to your daughter on her holy day!

Beautiful! The process is always so much more important than the product. And that holds true for more than just craft projects.
