Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do your children have blogs? My ds (11) and dd (just about 13) both love to spend time on the computer. They have blogs at homeschoolblogger but they are pretty much just fluff and smiley faces, lol. Because we seem to have so much trouble with HSB lately I'd like to start one for them under my typepad account and use it for writing.

If you use blogging for writing with your kids do you let them have at it and let them get creative with their writing on their own or do you assign a writing topic? Do you then sit down with them to correct any spelling/grammar mistakes?

My son has one :The Tale of Lantis
We set this up specifically at his request for him to post chapters of the novel he is writing. He was inspired by Christian Foss's blog and he intended to update weekly, though he has not updated it in a long time. He is still writing the novel (in fact he is working on it right now) but just hasn't posted a chapter in awhile.
Purely his choice to do this, not assigned. He does ask me to check his work and make suggestions for improvement, which he is free to take or leave as he sees fit. And I require that he must let me read anything before posting on internet(just on principle). But this is his baby, so I am staying as hands-off as possible in order to keep the writing fun for him.
