For some reason I can't open up some of your lesson plans that you post. I must need to have that version of Microsoft or something. I tried to look at some today that you had for Jan Brett books.
Do you plan unit studies for year round or do you do them as a break from the norm?

If you just open the plans (as opposed to saving them on your computer) it should open them in internet explorer (assuming that's what you use). You could then copy and paste what you see into whatever word processing software you use.
Can you try that and see if it works?

I'll try Janette. I thought I was hitting the open button but maybe not. I'll try it again.

Janette,
I get a little pop up that says preparing to install and then another pop up window that says Microsoft Office 2003 set up and it asks for a user name, initials, organizations and then a product key from either the box or from the certificate of authenticity.
This is a new computer so maybe I missed a paper or something that would have that code?

*I had to ask my dh to answer your question
----
Theresa-
If this is a new computer and Microsoft Office was installed prior to your purchasing it, then either (a) the software should have been registered already and no product key would need to be entered, or (b) you should have received media (CD-ROM) with the computer and the product key would be found on a sticker attached to the CD envelope/case/whatever.
If neither (a) nor (b) is the case for you, you should contact the person/place you bought it from and ask them what the deal is.

Tim,
I found my packet of info. that came with the computer and I have a free 60 day trial of Microsoft Office.
I entered the trial key code and now it works, however I only have until April 30th unless I buy the package.
Thanks for your help.

We're glad it worked! Now quick -- go download all of the units linked in Rabbit Trails and save them as .txt files!

Theresa -- just so you know, if you don't want to buy Microsoft Office, you can download Open Office from the internet for free. It is almost exactly like MS Office. I have been using it for over one year. You can still read MS files. You work on them and save them as an Open Office document, but you have the ability to save them as MS files so others can read them. I highly recommend it! And remember, it is free!!!!!!!

Also, you may have the option at the end of the trial period to have just a "read-only" function of MS Word without buying it. My computer came with the trial and now if I try to open a Word doc it asks if I want to buy and I say no, and then it opens anyway, but I can't alter the document or anything, just view it. I use Wordperfect and can't stand Word, so that works fine for me. I can open things people send me in Word and then save them and use WP to alter if needed. I can also open them directly into WP but may lose formatting.
