Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am looking for a source for current events for kids. I don't want anything online; real paper is best. I have seen samples of God's world news and didn't see anything anti-Catholic but it is a concern. Also, we had the scholastic news magazines for a year but I had to weed out too much junk. Are there any Catholic or other good news magazines for kids? I want something mostly for my tweens and teens but I am hoping to read some to the younger crowd too.

I subscribed to the God's World News this year for my ds (14). He really likes it. It comes with additional information for the teacher (or parent) and occasionally posters. (A recent issue had a poster on pond life and before the elections, one on forms of government).

So far it has been a good source of newsworthy information. Sometimes it contains information about missionary work, and, of course, that is not Catholic. But all in all, not a bad publication.

We really, really like Catholic World Report. They are so solid - but there will be articles that I wouldn't want youngers to read - ie they spoke of the problem with seminaries long before the scandals broke so I wouldn't just leave it around. But they also have great stories on issues around the world that would interest everyone.
