Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

And if you do purge them, how? We started notebooking this year with ds6 as per Cindy Rushton's model. We started with ONE notebook and began filling it. Soon, it became time to split the math/science and language arts pieces into 2 sections, and we removed all the geography pieces a placed them is a separate "Book of Continents" similar to the "Book of Centuries." I am amazed how fast the notebooks have filled up, and it seems time to separate subjects once again.

At this rate, however, I could have VOLUMES before many years have passed! How do you decided what stays and what goes in the notebooks?

I'd love to have Elizabeth's feedback, as I recently read about how you have created a portfolio for your oldest for the purpose of college entrance. It has made me eye each piece of copywork placed within that page protector in a new light!

We purge math and anything workbooky every couple of years.

Every few years I also ask the boys to go through their notebooks and remove anything that they don't care to keep. I have one who keeps everything and one who doesn't. Then from what they want to keep, I take the older things out (not from the Book of Centuries, though) and bind them together into a book to clear space in the 3 ring binders.
