Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Dear Friends,

I am interested in learning about the Charlotte Mason approach to homeschooling. Any book or website recommendations? There seems an abundance of information available, and I could benefit from personal recommendations.

Many thanks!

You mean, other than here?

Definitely read Elizabeth's book, Real Learning; then read Charlotte Mason's volumes or Karen Andreola's A Charlotte Mason Companion.

A website that's great (AND FREE ) is Michele Qs and Kathryn Fs Mater Amabilis which will give you a good idea of a yearly curriculum for teaching/learning the CM way.

That should keep you busy, yes?

I really liked the ABC's of Charlotte Mason, and I adore Penny Gardner's site, very inspiring!

But I must agree with Mary G, the best of the best is right here!

I just read A Charlotte Mason Education and that gave a quick intro. I love my copy of A Charlotte Mason Companion. I haven't read Real Learning yet but it's on my list!

And if you can make only one purchase, definitely, absolutely get Elizabeth's book,
Real Learning

I have to second this -- I've read and re-read it probably 5 or 6 times and everytime I take something new away. It's a nice, gentle intro to CM with a Catholic worldview that makes it especially appealing to me. And we "know" the author

I tried to find Real Learning through ILL but couldn't find it. I searched MNLiNK though and was able to find it so its on its way. I'm looking forward to reading through it.
