Anyone have the information about the 12 Days of Christmas, symbols and Catholic meanings? I can't remember where I found it recently and of course now all I can find are "urban legends" and "fictions".

I got my book on the Christian origins of the 12 Days of Christmas from Emmanuel Books. It's just a $6 coloring book, but all the info is in it and it's reproducible.

A good friend of mine from Vegas recently posted on her blog ideas for a 12 Day of Christmas lapbook. She found out about lapbooks about a month ago & hasn't stopped posting her new creations.
She is not a Catholic, however the unit looks very interesting. (Explains each symbol & links to clip art) She mentions the symbols & song goes to the Catholic church and persecutions....also there seems to be controversy about that on the web.
The noticable stand out is the number of bible books (Protestant vs. Catholic). Her clip art is for 66 books in the Bible. I'm going to tweak it a bit, add some Catholic flavor, find or creat clip art with all the books of the bible, but honestly it's a great resource.
Any way, here's the link if you'd like to look (no pics yet of the lapbook)

I look forward to spending some time at her site, Michaela.
here's the Catholic interpretation, originally found at CIN. Snopes calls this an urban legend.

The doubt made me nervous...
In 1995 Father Hal (same priest quoted on your link, Jenn) put a P.S in his writing that it has come to his attention it's not true. 1995
However, five years later (in 2000), after I'm sure much thought, research, and prayer I love what Father Hal says at the end of the article you shared, Jenn:
Whether you believe it or not is irrelevant to me. You can enjoy it or not, as you choose. ...........Believe if you will. Dissent if you choose. Let the rest enjoy the story

I hope it looks o.k. to you and everyone else.
Since she isn't Catholic there are two things I saw that would need to change.
--- # of books in Bible -- which has nothing to do w/ the 12 Days of Christmas. It was an addition.
--- 10 Lords a Leaping -- the clipart has the NonCatholic listing of the 10 Commandments.

No controversy, no worries Michaela! It's a great lapbook, and you already pointed out some of the tweaking that's needed. This is a fabulous idea for a lapbook...can't wait to do one!
