How important is history in the early grades? We are doing FIAR and loving it and covering some history that way but how much is enough or not enough?? My dd is 6 and the only one.

Just my opinion: Read them stories,stories,and more stories from history. It'll help understanding later and it will also implant a love of history.

I wish I had started when my children were younger. I would cycle through from ancient history to bible and church history to american history with living picture books and myths and interesting stories retold by mom (who of course reads history herself). I am convinced that a knowledge of history helps the whole child and of course church history will help increase faith.

I went from a complete (and I mean complete) lack of knowledge about history to loving it and being hungry for more!

I think a story two or three times a week would ready a child for more intense study later in life.
