We have not really started yet, but I can try and answer any questions that you may have?

We are also getting the Chess. And I can't wait till my littles are old enough to do Sea & Sky

Are they just "do this on this day" mostly or
do they have additional daily helps, like narrate this, or write about that, ect...?

Do you feel it was worth it to buy the package? Or would it be just as simple (and maybe save money) to buy the reading materials or borrow from the library?

I'm glad to hear the customer service is so good. The website wasn't as helpfull as I would have liked. Samples to view from actual lesson plans for a week and an idea of what a typical day with several grades might look like would have been very helpfull to this visual person.

My dh, who has been very against unit studies/CM/FIAR styles for the most part, actually showed interest in these! I enjoy our little "breaks" from the plan though, when we row a FIAR or did the prairie primer. His interest in WP might just be my chance to give this CM/unit study style a full fledged go.

I only bought the items from WP that were exclusive to WP, the rest I either got from Amazon or Overstock, or the library.

Are you familiar with Sonlight? It is similar, but with hands on activites and notebooking. And in my personal opinion, the books are better choices. Many are actually the same choices as ones used in SL, but just used later, so the children are a little older/more mature when reading them. I got tired of every Sonlight read-aloud being heart wrenching.

just scroll to the bottom of the page. It is a picture of the "old" AW guide, but the new, updated Instructor's Guide is quite similar.

The teacher guides are not $400.00, that's the guide with the entire program (all of the books included).

The Teacher's Guides on by themselves are about $70.00.
