Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was intrigued by this: The Checklist. It is an entire scope and sequence for K through 12th for all subjects in one book. I thought it would be a really nice way for someone like me, who is record-keeping challenged, to a) keep track of what we accomplish and b) use to see where we might have gaps and plan to fill them accordingly. I like that I am not bound by the usual confines of scopes and sequences by grade level, where you have to cover x subject in y year.

Of course there are downsides! It is written by a lady from a strong Protestant/Creationism viewpoint. Much of it doesn't sit right with me.

Is there something like this out there that also happens to be Catholic? Is that too much to hope for? Anyone want to get busy compiling one?

Which scope and sequence do you use?

Does anyone use a scope and sequence in this way, as a record-keeping and/or planning tool?

Thanks for your input!

I use the curriculum documents from our state in a similar way - check off what we do, get ideas of new things to try. Of course, these don't include the faith but I see that as living the liturgical year so I am okay with it.

My favorite scope and sequence is this one:
World Book Typical Course of Study

I usually print out the years, and check off, or look to see that we have it mostly covered. We usually have plenty more.

I think it's good to ease your mind to check them from time to time, but I want to be flexible too. I don't become a slave to it, but use it like I use all things God gives us to homeschool....as a tool.

Hope this helps!
