I need to sneak school/skills into dd. does anyone know about any project based curriculum? Or websites that might suggest projects for certain things you are learning? Thanks.

We have been doing project based learning for a while. Haven't used a curriculum for it. What help do you need?

She has lots of words of wisdom. Let me know if you have specific questions. It worked really really well for us.

I am very interested in this!
We have to get through our social studies, but i am struggling with the concept. Some one suggested projects, but it's so abstract to me.
For example, we are currently working on Cordillera area of Canada, a little First nations history, and industry.
What kind of project could we do with that?

I took the class offered by Lori Pickert from the link MIchelle gave you. Not sure if it's the kind of thing you are looking for, but I love the theory and am working on the implementation.
If you are trying to solidify a particular subject and/or topic, I think it's best to start by asking your LO what he/she is most interested in within that field. Projects are very individual, and in order for the student to maintain enthusiasm, they have to be mainly self-directed.
So, if you are studying the Pilgrims, for example, one person might want to sew a costume, while another might want to plant heirloom seeds. Other subjects might be studying their religious beliefs, learning about the Native Americans of that region, the topography of New England at that time, sea vessels and the cross-atlantic voyages, etc.. There are so many possibilities, and when kids are given some time to digest the topic, they will come up with their own projects. It does take a while for some of them to get into a groove, though. Read about what Pickert says about the workspace. Having a bit of that available will help spark their imaginations.

Anne, I think math might be a tougher area to start with, especially if you are looking for a specific set of skills. Money comes to mind. Also, RightStart has set of arithmetic games that might help.
I'm sorry I don't know much about Canadian history, but hopefully there is some area about what you have already studied that your LO can delve more deeply into.

Have you looked at math storybooks for sneakiness? We use Life of Fred for math, but there are also lots of other books out there. I am not familiar with many of them, but The Adventures of Penrose the Mathematical Cat has been on my wishlist for some time.
