Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi, asking this for a friend nearby who is not on the boards. She is looking at using Schola Rosa next year as her main program. She and a friend are starting a Classically Catholic Memory co-op using Alpha year, as well, but I won't be joining them.. just not willing to do a long drive twice per month or teach a subject in a co-op setting.

So the question is, have any of you used Schola Rosa? From the site it looks like it is really only beginning this Fall? Have you used parts of it? Have you looked at it? I'm just wanting to get her some reviews, and I am curious myself, though I'm pretty sure I'll stick with my own tweaking of MA with a Circe-like Classical bent.. :)

She's looking at using it on her own, possibly recruiting a few local families to try it as well, but not using it in a co-op setting - the co-op will be CCM only. Thanks in advance!

I think it was going last year as we were looking at it as an option with our coop. Since it is so new I haven't found anyone who has done it in the co-op setting yet. I too would be interested to hear response if there is anyone who has.

Amanda - have you had any feedback? I am wondering myself and hate to jump on something without picking someone's brain.

No, but my friend is going ahead with it. I'll see if she'd like to get in touch.

I will be starting with Schola Rosa tomorrow!!! I am so impressed with the ease of their site and the curriculum! I will be using it with CCM. Not doing a co-op with it, just my own little clan. So far, it is very "teacher friendly": complete, flexible, easy to navigate, and covers so much!

I have a couple of friends that will be starting CCM only (not Schola Rosa). Once a month we will have our kids get together and recite some things they've memorized. This will help them with their public speaking. We'll incorporate a craft/activity and a saint study, too. We're not all going to be on the same topic, perhaps (even though we are all starting with Alpha), but don't want the stress of having to be on someone else's schedule.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

My friend has just started her year, and from what she shared with me is very happy with it. It seems to have everything needed in an organized manner.

Katherine- may I ask what parts you are using on your own? I was confused by the website :)

Thanks,
Tracey

I am using Schola Rosa for my preschooler, 3rd grader and 7th grader. I have a son in 8th grade who is using SCHOLA PHILOSOPHIAE and TRADITIO NOSTRA for independent study. Basically, that is his history & logic classes which include writing. I haven't gotten into the TN yet so I can't really answer any questions on it.

I like the organized manner, online lectures, schedules, plans, etc. There really aren't a whole lot of additional materials needed!! I think the cost of the program is fair and is a good value. Yay!!

The founders, Mr & Mrs Rolling have been great at answering any of my questions. I sent them many emails trying to figure it out (plus a phone call!) They were so patient with me!

I also like that it has a "notebooking" element to it and it is definitely classical in content. They utilize Classically Catholic Memory and it is basically the spine. All my kids are learning the SAME thing at the SAME time!! Super cool!!!

Having a GREAT start to the new school year!!

Interesting this came up now. I met someone who was overwhelmed at the MA website because she wanted itemized plans, but she wanted the CM approach. I couldn't remember the name she used, and here it is.

Looking it over, it feels more Classical and less a literature approach than I'm comfortable with, so I don't think it's a good fit, but I'm glad it works for some people.

I agree with it being a classical approach. They are using great literature with it, too!!

Isn't it wonderful to have so many choices!? I am thrilled to finally find a comprehensive curriculum that fits my style & needs for ALL my kids
