Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm researching co-op ideas that might work for us, but so far with CCM and Catholic Schoolhouse it seems geared to elementary school students. My question is, if you are using one of these programs what are your older students doing? How would middle schoolers fit into these programs?

In our programs that are utilizing CCM we are developing our own courses for the older students to supplement when they age out of the set curriculum from CCM.

Also, Rolling Acres School has developed the Schola Rosa program for co-op use. It utilizes CCM for younger then they have curriculum set and online options for a middle school and high school cooperative.

I keep looking at acres trying to see the appeal. Unless you want to enroll in their online thing, I don't think it would be helpful?

I see they have matched up their middle/upper level topics and booklist to correlate with CCM's sequence, but really any mom can do that with some time going through various booklists. I just did it for a friend here who is ordering the alpha pack for her younger ones and wanted to incorporate her olders into it.

I just pulled out my various books and made a list for her to choose from.

Harp and Laurel Wreath or Poems Old and New, select a realistic number of poems to memorize and study.

For the time period, find 2-4 major documents or speeches to study and memorize. (lend me you ears is a great resource for this)

Latin prayers - choose at your discretion

Religion - confirmation related catechism and scripture

Geography - I don't remember what I pulled out for her....oh I think I suggested capitals and more major land formations that is covered in the younger CCM level.

Science - pulled out biology CLEP book for some top bits of info worth memorizing

Heyyyy. Anyone wanna pay me for this?

We do CCM and love it.
Similar to what was mentioned above, we develop courses for the middle school and even high school siblings. This year the entire middle school group was made up of boys, so they did Lego Robotics. Both the middle school and high school students participated in an Apologetics course. The high schoolers did a Socratic discussion group on Ancient Lit.

Next year, the high school group is taking a Scripture course and a Medieval Literature course. The middle school group is more mixed and they will be doing a Science class and a literature class at their level. We are blessed in that our Atrium teacher is offering to put something together for the middle school set.

The best thing is to meet with everyone and toss out some ideas and see what skill sets you have.

Good luck.
