Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm looking for book recommendations or really any suggestions for my reluctant reader. She's at the stage where easy readers are too easy but chapter books are too hard. I tried the American Girl books but she didn;t like them ( or should I say was intimidated, they were too hard or at least she thought they were too hard.)
She did like some MAgic School Bus books, but she has now read all of them.
thanks!

My reluctant reader (a boy) LOVED the Pathway readers. The sweet stories center around an Amish family and everyday Amish life, yet are very interesting and often teach a good moral without ever being preachy. (I usually get SO bored with stories in readers, but I enjoyed these as much as my son did.)

The Grade 1 Preprimer is probably too easy for a student who can read the Magic School Bus books, but I would recommend it anyway for its great stories. The "Days Go By" books were our very favorite.

Encyclopedia Brown series, Pippi Longstocking (Astrid Lindgren), The Great Brain series, My Father's Dragon trilogy, The Littles

I'm sure there are others, but those were the first to pop into my head.

My reluctant reader loved Pippi Longstocking and The Wizard of Oz.

What about Beatrix Potter, Brambly Hedge, Curious George?

Thanks for the suggestions! I think she would like a lot of these- especially Wizard of Ox and Encyclopedia Brown (she'll like that the stories are so short). And I'll have to look into the PAthway Readers. Thanks!

So you are after easy chapter books? and is she happy to read 'boy books'?
