What are your favorite digital tools or games for learning? We don't have an iPad, so for us the selections are strictly for the computer.

Sheppard Software has the most amazing selection of geography games that my kids just love! My oldest used their games almost exclusively to learn his states and capitals

Typing Instructor for Kids ($14.99) has been a great investment as my oldest learns to type. It's still not exactly fun, but it's more fun than the previous ways we had tried.

Hmmm...well, as my husband is a total techno-geek, we really love anything techy here!!!

*computers/laptops. (We're up to 6 computers.    See what I mean.) Wow; I cannot imagine homeschooling without them, though I'm sure its possible!

*iPad Love it! For books, books and more books! And apps for organizing, an atlas, handwriting, youtube videos, art prints for picture study, keynote for reports, reference material like periodic tables, and even pdf's of our school schedule so its right at hand.

*Kindle.

*FlashMaster (don't think we paid this much, so look around!) an electronic tool for practicing math facts. Great for school-on-the-go days.

*CD player. Truly! We love audio books! And listening to background music while doing other work.

*digital timers. For timing math facts, watching lessons so they don't drag on and on, and for help managing computer time, music practices, and even shower lengths.

*blogs. One son uses a school blog for submitting work done like compositions, written narrations, etc. and I can assemble any online resources he might need so that they are at the tip of his fingers.

*CD-ROM edu-games. Most of our are pretty old but we've one older computer that's reserved for their use. But we've really enjoyed Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, all I SPY games, Railroad Tycoon, Oregon Trail, Crazy Contraptions, and JumpStart games.

On my wish list for the upcoming school year is an electronic thesaurus. Thought it might be a fun tool for encouraging our writers.
