Hi there,

Has anyone seen the book recommended by Sonlight for 7th grade titled "Live Like a Jesus Freak: Spend Today as if it Were Your Last?" I know it is not Catholic, but is it anti-Catholic?

Not sure. It's written by DC Talk, a contemporary christian music band.

Saw this and I am praying you read the book before giving it to your kids. I just finished it and it is anti-Catholic. Especially if you do not have a conversation about the topics pertaining to standing up. Standing up as a christian is illustrated by standing up to the Catholic church. It is a book that does have some good thoughts but it needs a parent to navigate or black out the references to the "bad" Catholic church.

I don't use Sonlight materials for the simple reason that much of it is anti-Catholic. It is difficult enough to bring children up to embrace the Faith without using materials that subtly undermine our Catholicism by being written to support protestant beliefs.

Thanks. I didn't buy it. I don't have a lot of time right now to do "translations" so I like to have a better idea of what I am in for before I purchase. I really appreciate the review!!
