Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi everyone,

we have been doing some talking with DD about different religions and I was wondering if anyone has any good resource for us to explore.

We also started talking different denominations, as some of her friends are not Catholic, but Christian.
Can anyone help in this area. It would be fascinating to explore this area.

Leanne

Your library probably has some books in the children's section that would be age-appropriate. Our library has books on Judaism, Islam, Latter-Day Saints, Hinduism, Buddhism, the Amish...not much on mainstream Protestant denominations, though.

We have this book:

Usborne Encyclopedia of World Religions

We like it a lot.

My Religious Studies professor in college always recommended The Joy of Sects. But it's more adult-oriented (as you can tell from the pun), but if you wanted to read the information and relay it that clarify some things for you.

I actually incorporate world religion into our history lessons. For instance, when we get to Mohammed we discussed the founding of Islam, its basic beliefs/practices, issues surrounding it today, and how it relates to our life (our community and pop culture references).

Thank you everyone for your recommendations. It has given me a better idea. Thanks.

Barbara,
That is what I want to do, know more about the different religions, so when dd asks in the car or where ever, I can ask confidently and re direct her to a source in our home.
